Our Form of Government has Gone Astray
I'm really not willing to let go of this point. This morning, historian Heather Cox Richardson echoed the same point in her newsletter that I did a week ago. She states: "Republican lawmakers all voted against the bill despite the fact that 76% of Americans, including 59% of Republicans, like the measure."

How is it that 59% of Republicans and 76% of all Americans broadly supported the Bill, yet it passed by the slimmest of margins along partisan lines?
We are no longer being represented in Congress by our Representatives and Senators. They have gone rogue. Something is deeply wrong with our political system right now. When allegiance to Party carries more weight than allegiance to constituency, we have lost a fundamental tenet of our form of government.
There needs to be accountability when a congressional representative ignores to wishes of their respective constituency.
Think about this for a minute. Do we really want to have an oligarchy in this country? -- one in which We the People no longer have a say about how we are governed and which laws are passed or not passed?
Regardless of what side of the aisle you sit on, what is going on in the bowels of Congress fails to reflect the norms of government intended by our founding fathers.
